Insights I Gained from Usrah
Bismillah
Assalamualaikum
Among the things that I gained from Usrah moderated by Sister Adlina is the Adab in Learning Knowledge. Firstly, we learn what is meant by Adab which basically consists of 4 elements; Fitrah, value, observations and discipline. Adab in learning also categorized into two categories- inward adabs and outward adabs. Inward adabs in learning such as intention, clear goals, respect to the knowledge and get barakah, consistency and act upon the knowledge that we learnt. The most important thing in inward adab is reflection On the other hand, examples for outward adab are take notes, review, repeat, ask questions, do extra readings and preparations before class. Those are the things that we do physically in order to strengthen our memory about the knowledge meanwhile inward adab is inclined to be those acts we act for the better of our inner self when learning.
Other than that, we also learnt about hadith jibril. Hadith jibril is the hadith explained by Allah through jibril as intermediary about the meaning of Islam, Iman, Ihsan as well as the signs of Day of Judgment (Qiyamah). Furhtermore, we emphasised more on Islamic knowledge by learning abou tthe belief in Rasul and Anbiya', belief in Qiyamah and belief in Qada' and Qadar. So much things that I gained from this topic such as the difference between Rasul and Nabi, the reason we have to believe in Qiyamah and its correlation with our akhlaq and ibadah in this worldly life as well as the definition of predestination. Being a Muslim does not mean we merely have to follow the flow, as if Allah has planned everything for us. But we also have to make efforts and after that only we let everything to Allah (tawakkal - Surah Ali Imran:159)
Oh yea, not to forget I learnt about the concept of Ihsan and eschatology. Ihsan literally means beautification/perfection/excellence. The correlation between Islam, Iman and Ihsan is Ihsan is the element that can keep our ibadah as a Muslim and our imaan (faith) perfect by being sincere in everything that we do (good deeds). Ihsan is when we do good things and Allah sees what we are doing. In short, it is a sense of religious responsibility.
Eschatology, on the other hand means the end of the world (Qiyamah) and the afterworld. Indeed, other religion also has their own theories of eschatology but we must believe the ones taught by Islam. It is very important to believe in our destination after death as it can raise our sense of responsibility (ihsan) when we're performing our ibadah (directly or indirectly).
I can see how beautiful Islam is when everything that we do now is actually related with our afterlife. All the commandments even though some may think it is trivial in this world, but indeed it is for the betterment of us in the akhirah. Everything is making sense. Hence, we must always do good so that our 'next life' will also be good, insya Allah may Allah grant us Jannatul Firdaus.
All in all, to sum up my experience with Usrah S206 with Sister Adlina and usrahmates, it was very insightful. Full of meanings and information though it was a short one. The only improvement that I would suggest is for Sister Usrah to be more ready with ideas to execute the class creatively in order to encourage usrahmates to share ideas and opinions. Other than that, all good alhamdulillah!
Thank you :)
